UFEMAT Congress 2026 focuses on cooperation and European regulation
The latest UFEMAT newsletter is fully dedicated to the UFEMAT Congress 2026, which will take place from 30 September to 2 October in Paris, in collaboration with EURO-MAT and during BATIMAT week. The central theme of the event is “Building Bridges – forever!”
Key highlights from the newsletter
- The congress will strongly focus on European legislation and its impact on the building materials distribution sector, including sustainability, packaging regulations (PPWR), the circular economy and the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
- UFEMAT underlines the importance of cooperation between national federations, wholesalers and European institutions in order to develop practical and workable solutions for the sector.
- Several high-level speakers will participate in the congress, including representatives from Saint-Gobain, EuroCommerce and the European Commission.
- The organisation also aims to encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs through a special reduced participation fee for “Young Merchants”.
- A key part of the programme includes visits to BATIMAT and to Gedimat Houilles (SEFOR), a French building materials merchant with nearly 100 years of history and a strong focus on innovation and sustainability.
- UFEMAT also announced the development of a practical European “compendium” providing a structured overview of relevant European regulations for the wholesale building materials sector.
- The newsletter furthermore pays tribute to Mario Verduci, who will retire at the end of 2025 after decades of commitment to the European construction distribution sector.
